Front row seat
About writer's block, a small person, and just watching
I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to pretend. Today this feels harder than usual, and way harder than expected.
My mind is blank. Ideas have completely abandoned me, and all I have left are scattered fragments of thoughts or memories of things (thoughts, ideas, observations, events) that not too long ago I thought I would use as inspiration. Yet, here I am. Blocked.
The irony (and frustration) comes from knowing that just today I had at least a couple of moments when I thought there was something there that could be said. Yet, here I am. Blocked.
The truth is that life now revolves around one person. A very small one. And as much as I think about how much I want to show, say and share with him, to write down for posterity, I realise that now, I'm also a spectator. And that... THAT, is everything,
I'm the spectator of his life, in the front row seat. And when I think about it, as much as I love to write and create, as much as I want to show him and tell him, he is here to do the same to me, and hopefully, with me.
I understand it now. I'm not blocked. I'm just watching.
And today, that's the only story that I care to tell.
