Blocked tap

There is a paradox that comes with being hyper-creative and, at the same time, getting stuck not knowing what to do next. Suddenly, everything goes blank. Everything stops.

There’s no flow of ideas. Words don’t come out. The path is nonexistent.

Where did it all go?

It’s like someone closed the tap, and the ideas, vision, and direction are the water that stopped coming out. The same water that was flowing nonstop just a while before, hydrating the possibilities.

The second paradox comes with the reality that, as much as I want to create, do something and put it out there, at the same time, I want to just get away from this keyboard, close the laptop and go away, far from this discomfort. I don't want to face it. I just want to let it go. This feels hard. This is hard. It’s uncomfortable.

It’s uncomfortable because it's up to no one else. Leaving will always be the immediate and easy escape, the remedy to the aches. A quick fix that takes away everything in the long term.

Because that is the thing. It feels unpleasant right now; escaping is easy, but the reality is that tomorrow it won’t feel great, hell, it won't feel good today before going to bed. I didn’t stick to my own word, but most importantly, I didn’t go through it, which ultimately is the only way.

We spend our lives waiting for ideas to come back so we can do them, but the truth is that it is the doing that gets the water flowing.
